WHITE HORSE OF BRECHFA As Symbol of Contemporary Popular Resistance ALSO AN EXPOSURE OF ANGLO - CAMBRO RIGHT WING ACTIVITIES IN WALES IN OUR OWN TIME - A MATTER OF NATIONALIST CONCERN.


This story below was related to me by compatriot FWA Commandant Julian Cayo Evans RIP just one month into our sentence to imprisonment in Cardiff Jail. We had been given the task of breaking up Telephones and to pass time away Cayo would make Celtic Prison Crafts out of Telephone parts while relating to me the poems of Robert Service and folk tales as below. I have taken liberties and literary licence to this story, to embellish and round off to my own conclusion. All in all I fancy it has a contemporay analogy with the coming of the the Windmill Masters Corporate thieves grabbing land upon which to build a rural industrial estate. This also in mind, I have made the White Horse of Brechfa a symbol of contemporary popular resistance and have produced a protest poster for use in a local campaign against the proposed Windfarm.

THE WHITE HORSE OF BRECHFA:
 A poorly sighted old farmer went with his white horse as a guide to the annual fair, there outside a Tafarn he challenged as a bet anyone to take back the money they placed in his open palm back, If able to do so he would match it. Many thought this an easy thing to do and took up the challenge and all failed as before they could grasp the money, the farmers White Horse would snap up at their hands and thwart their grasping hold of the money. The farmer after a successful day of selling some stock and gambling would retreat to the pub and get drunk, the horse would patiently await his master, then guide him home but on one occasion a pair of rogues - thieves had been watching the farmer pocket a load of money from the stock sales and betting. They knew the route he would take home guided by his locally famous White Horse and so they lay in wait to rob him, the plan being that one would wave a sheet and club the horse whilst the other attacked and robbed the farmer. No more could there be such a wicked and tragic but also  ill-conceived plan, that when put into action the Old Farmer was killed but, the next morning when his body was found standing over him was his White Horse nuzzling his masters cheeks. Further on down the lane lay the bodies of the two thieves their skulls cracked and bodies most bloodily trampled on. Scattered across the road was the farmers money, it was collected up and placed in the gambo that took the Farmer's body home. The farmer had no family, so the community give him a fitting burial and the money he had left was given to the local parish relief of orphans and widows. Of the thieves bodies, some say their bodies were thrown in the River and of the White Horse after it was taken with the farmers body back to the farm for a wake, it disappeared. However, on day of the Farmers funeral as his body was placed in the ground and earth scattered on the Coffin then wreaths placed, as people departed they looked up to an hill. There  was seen the White Horse of Brechfa, it raised up it's forelegs and neighed so loud it is said the sound can still be heard on the wind today. Some say that if travelling in area of Brechfa apart from Foxes and the singular Puma one will see a White Horse galloping! galloping! galloping into the clouds the wind blowing it's mane wildly.
